Freedom for Choice & the Powers of Reclamation.

“My Body My Choice” this slogan was seen on many banners at the “Freedom for Choice” demonstration in London yesterday- 24th April. There was very little media coverage of the event and the scant reporting that was available attest to numbers of demonstrators at around several thousand whereas other sources report tens of thousands. For such a major event to go relatively unreported with no mention from the BBC or the Guardian newspaper speaks volumes and is conspicuous by absence at best or is indeed very suspicious.
People are waking up now en-mass, the collective “No” is gaining strength and getting more definite by the day. This unfolding is clearly no longer a case of conspiracy theory, irrationality, or paranoia, but the revealing of a deep truth emerging from within the human spirit to reclaim the things that matter and make a stand for liberation.
“My Body My Choice”, the people say – No to vaccination… No to a vaccination passport.
The chart for the demonstration shows a grand trine in earth between Vesta, Pholus, and the Sun. Vesta stands for self-sovereignty like no other, and Centaur Pholus is where the “lid comes off”, both these asteroids are being powerfully activated by the Sun in Taurus.
Earth is about our bodies, how we take care of them and what we need in order to be healthy on the material plane. A powerful trine in earth involving Vesta and Pholus is pointing toward sovereignty on the physical level… this is where we fully occupy our body as our “kingdom” or “temple” and clearly, and intentionally state that it’s not available to any other person without our full consent and full volition. It is where we say a firm no to any agenda or violations that would undermine our most essential selves.

As Venus inches closer to an exact conjunction with black moon Lilith culminating on Tuesday’s Scorpio supermoon, a deep principle of value is being reinstated (Venus) with a divine power that knows how to “utter the ineffable name of God”- Black moon Lilith. Exiled, repressed, and maligned for thousands of years Lilith knows how to light the cosmic fire in our bodies burning away the dross of low vibrational frequencies.
On the day of the Scorpio supermoon, Pluto turns retrograde facilitating this process by aiding elimination and purification.

Aries New Moon: The Gods of Love.

‘Psyche Entering Cupid’s Garden’ by John William Waterhouse

April’s new moon on the 12th heralds powerful new beginnings inaugurated by the messengers of spring and bathed in the amniotic sap of rebirth. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac;  the first moon in Aries marks not only a new lunar cycle but a whole new annual cycle. This Aries new moon is particularly strong as a host of other elements accompany and reinforce the luminaries.

Sun & Moon are at Aries 22°- Mercury at Aries 14°- Venus at Aries 26°- Chiron at Aries 9°- asteroid Amor at Aries 11°.

That’s a lot of cardinal fire, a burst of cosmic energy penetrating even the densest matter. It’s the kind of signature that can set the world on fire; it is sheer warrior (of love) energy, and the question presented to us at the threshold is-

What will we pull through the birthing canal. What precious things shall we lovingly tend and hold dear until they take root creating a strong foundation for the coming year and beyond?

The Sabian Symbol for the new moon is-

PHASE 23 (ARIES 23°): A PREGNANT WOMAN IN LIGHT SUMMER DRESS.

KEYNOTE: Fecundity.

Masculine aggressiveness and the woman’s desire for fulfilment (Phases 21 and 22) are integrated and realized in the expected child. This three-fold sequence can be seen operating at several levels, and the third term, the child, can take various emotional and cultural forms. The basic meaning remains the same. Summer is the period of fruition. Man – at the receptive “woman” level – reaps the fruits of his dynamic activity.

This is the third stage of the fifth five-fold sequence of cyclic phases. It combines the two preceding ones and suggests INNER FULFILLMENT.

Also in Aries is asteroid Amor at Aries 11°- asteroid Cupid (which is the same as Amor) has just ingressed over in to Taurus 1°. The Greek counterpart of Amor and Cupid is Eros, at Capricorn 7 ° forming a trine with Uranus, god of liberation and change at Taurus 9°.

The Gods of Love are asking us to reconsider our ideas and beliefs about love. What blocks us from expressing and receiving love, and ultimately are we ready for a higher love. Are we ready to enter the garden of Cupid?

Asteroid Amor is conjunct Chiron by 2 degrees facilitating greater awareness of our personal and collective wounds of love, highlighting the hurt places that cause us to contract and cut ourselves off from universal love.

As the Sufi mystic, Rumi says,

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

Even though the barriers to love at this time appear impenetrable, it is another great soul, Mahatma Gandhi who reminds us of an “indefinable mysterious Power that pervades everything”. Of this power Gandhi  says,

And is this Power benevolent or malevolent? I see it as purely benevolent. For I can see, that in the midst of death life persists, in the midst of untruth truth persists, in the midst of darkness light persists. Hence, I gather that God is Life, Truth, Light. He is Love. He is the Supreme Good.”

Though it may seem that we are in the midst of darkness and death, many of us sense a deep stirring in our being calling us to rise beyond the oppression of the soul in captivity and reclaim liberation from the purveyors of doom and life stealing schemes.  In the midst of death life persists and nowhere is this urge to life more tenaciously reflected than an Aries new moon where the impulse to life pushes through even the most barren ground and hardened hearts.

We stand on the polarity point between Eros, god of life and Thanatos, god of death, and like many before us on the quest for sovereignty we must discern what is ready to die and what is ready to be born. Father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud believed Eros and Thanatos are two states locked in a perpetual battle within the human psyche. It is Eros’ consort Psyche who finally sets us free through the depth of her love, commitment, and devotion in the face of adversity. Psyche chooses love at every turn and in pursuit of her beloved enters the Garden of Cupid.

The polarity between Eros and Thanatos is not a duality of good versus evil, it is more like a continuum of reflection, tension, balance, and rebalance. Without Thanatos, Eros would have nothing to stive toward, nothing to push against, becoming complacent, apathetic, and dull. Without Eros, Thanatos would have nothing to destroy as everything would already be in a state of decay and undoing and before long there would be nothing left -a perpetual wasteland… some may argue that we are currently living in the wasteland. The King is sick, the land is sick, and the people are sick; the vice like grip of Thanatos has held reign for too long culminating in a petrified state of unbalance and near stasis. Fear and aggression are expressions of Thanatos, both break down and reduce rather than open and release. It is love that liberates the soul.

We need Eros’ reviving kiss this new moon as never before; the strong Aries energies are a mighty band of warriors ready to defend life. The pregnant woman in a light summers dress, the fecundity of spring, the bursting array of life in the plant and animal kingdoms are at their strongest. That same principle is in us… can you feel the sap rising, the juices flowing? The west wind is blowing away the dead wood, the Zephyr is fructifying all living things- the messengers of spring have spoken.

In mythology, Psyche is a beautiful mortal woman who falls in love with Eros, and he with her even though their love seems impossible, prevented by a spiritual law that states mortals and gods cannot love equally. Each night Psyche is visited by Eros who makes intense love to her bringing her to the height of ecstatic bliss; their union is consummated in the dark so that Psyche is not aware of her lover’s godly status and in her ignorance their partnership is for a few hours equal. Though she can feel Eros, Psyche never sets eyes on him, however once she becomes pregnant her curiosity gets the better of her and one night she hold a candle over her love to gaze upon him… an act that is strictly forbidden. It is not a horrendous monster before her as she has been told but a breathtakingly beautiful man who upon awakening is accidentally burned from the hot wax of her candle. He tells Psyche, “the one thing I asked you never to do you have done, and because of this I must now leave you”. And off he flies.

Heartbroken Psyche is set a series of seemingly impossible tasks by the goddess of love Aphrodite including making a descent to Hades to request a drop of beauty balm from Proserpina. Although the tasks set to Psyche seem unobtainable, through help from the gods, tenacity, and an unshakable love for Eros, Psyche completes her mission. As she goes at last to set her final prize before the goddess Aphrodite, she is tempted to steal a drop of beauty balm and opens the little box given to her by the goddess of the underworld. Instead of beauty it is “infernal and Stygian sleep,” that is released causing Psyche to fall into a deep state of unconsciousness… the god of death, Thanatos lurks close by in a hazy fog waiting to claim her soul.

Catching wind of his love in danger, Eros now healed and deeply moved by Psyche’s devotion comes to her aid and revives her with his kiss. The lovers win the blessing of the gods and Psyche is admitted into Olympus- a rare honour, and in fact maybe the only mortal to be made divine. Psyche became the Greek goddess of the soul; she and Eros gave birth to a daughter, named Voluptas or Hedone, meaning bliss or pleasure.

‘Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss’ by Antonio Canova, in the Louvre.

With the warrior planet Mars at her side this new moon Psyche’s commitment and devotion is stronger than ever. Mars (Gemini 23°) conjunct Psyche (Gemini 25°) is the Warrior of Love reborn with the aid of a powerhouse of gods at the astrological point of rebirth and renewal. And in Gemini the relationship between mind, our thought processes, and psyche or soul is highlighted. What messeges are we sending into the world as this will influence how the world reacts and interacts with us. As James Hillman says, it is not so much that we have a psyche, it is more that we are in psyche. Everything is in psyche and the Aries new moon is the kiss of Eros that we need to revive us.

Aquarius New Moon: Are You Ready for the Aquarian Edge?

Aquarius by Johfra

February New Moon in Aquarius, 11 February, 7. 05 PM, GMT

This new moon is calling us to take our place in the collective tapestry and stand in our uniqueness. It is an invitation to be proud of who we are realising that what we have to offer reflects our unique vibrational field and is needed at this time.

Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the radical outer planet that breaks down old, outmoded structures freeing us from the restrictions of Saturn to a new liberated state of being where we get to fully be who we are, or who we are meant to be… and that can be edgy.

Meditations and reflections this coming new moon around what limits, prevents and restricts us from stepping into our full expression will go a long way to revealing our purpose and why we are here.

Aquarius is simultaneously involved and detached- ‘in the world but not of it’, or as Sadhguru says,

Totally involved but unentangled – this is the quality of the Divine. If you maintain this quality, ultimate liberation will be a natural process.

What does this look like in practice?

It is not trying to escape the earthly material world, or the collective processes, nor is it to shut ourselves down due to fear. It is to stay open and present to the world while knowing when to retreat and rejuvenate ourselves and at the same time letting the stuff of the world and other people flow through us without letting it stick to us or drag us down.

This is a fine balance and calls for a lot of self-love and self-respect… and respect for the uniqueness of others too.

As Margaret Mead says,

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everybody else.

In Capricorn we learned about boundaries, in Aquarius it is important to set them otherwise we can become overwhelmed by the sheer influx of information. Discernment is key.

Aquarius is the water bearer, but it is not the water. Aquarius allows the possibility of containing our emotions without letting them spill out onto others and without the emotions and toxicity of others affecting us.

Aquarius calls for us to make our vessels tight while at the same time being open and receptive to the positive and transformative cosmic flows… currently fast and abundant.

Aquarius has not yet fully dissolved into the undifferentiated oneness of Pisces but has moved beyond the limiting structures of Capricorn/Saturn where individuality is tempered to accord with traditional values.

Aquarius sets us free to show up in the world as we truly are.

The invitation is to let the hard-shelled cladding of other people’s judgments and opinions fall away creating space for the authentic self to be realised.

Identify persons, situations, past experiences, and most of all distorted conditioning that has prevented you from truly believing in yourself.

Things we once thought important, that took our time and energy, that we worried about and fretted over are no longer able to eclipse our light, the vibration simply does not hold up. Let those things and people go, with love. Consciously raise your vibration and whatever does not resonate with that vibration let it fall away.

With 6 planets in Aquarius and Jupiter and Saturn each making three exact contacts to the 23 degrees Aquarius point over the next almost two years, the choices we make now will be instrumental in grounding and manifesting a new vibrational reality in our lives.

This is quantum… things can happen very quickly now.

What you once thought- or were told- was not possible is suddenly within reach. With Jupiter going over the 23 degree point three times, expansion and evolution are supported, while Saturn also crosses this point three times grounding and concretizing the changes… and ensuring the new reality can stand in the world.

Aquarian energy is light and electric, it cuts away old stagnation and stickiness in an instant if we allow it. Truly this is a time to break through limiting beliefs- the universe is supporting personal and collective transformation like never before.

Remember to stay grounded… Aquarian energy can be somewhat disembodied and over stimulating on the nervous system. Through this time, ground and embody your new insights and awareness by spending time in nature and taking extra good care of yourself.

The Great Conjuction: On becoming your own liberation executive

Painting by Dennis Potokar

On Tuesday 14 December, a total solar eclipse in Sagittarius happened just days before Saturn entered Aquarius, followed by Jupiter on December 21, heralding the ‘Great Conjunction’ and the dawn of a new age. In this blog I share a few insights based on my personal experience and intuition around these collective shifts.

On the threshold between old and new we are not merely passive observers in unfolding events, we are, or at least can be, conscious participants and creators. Perhaps the most important issue at stake during this shift concerns the essence of our personal freedom and in this way the Great Conjunction may be viewed as the marriage between our spiritual and material selves and an opportunity to fully incarnate spirit into the material world. Uranus- the ruler of Aquarius- points to what spiritual evolutions may occur while Saturn offers the potential to develop strong structures to contain these higher, yet more intense frequencies, and Jupiter offers expansion.

Insights at the new moon eclipse, for me, were personal in nature and had to do with navigating my way though the trauma of a relationship breakup at the start of the covid pandemic and lockdown. It seemed that I oscillated between two states of consciousness, or even dimensions (old paradigm/new paradigm) in terms of how I processed and understood the trauma. I recognised the experience as being part of an old story spanning back into the timeline of my soul’s journey. The eclipse happened on the south node which has to do with the past, including past lives, and so it was not surprising that old unresolved issues surfaced. As I stayed in the descent I moved between personal pain, outrage, and grief, through to a vastly more expanded awareness in which I was knew that on some level I had chosen all of these experiences with the intention to be broken open, to be transformed and liberated from the mental prisons and outmoded beliefs that restrained me. Eclipses are times of accelerated growth lasting well beyond the moment. The whole of this lunar cycle offers a chance to journey into our past and gain awareness of the dymanics that still influence and control us.

Yesterday’s experience in the lead up to the solstice and the conjunction was again a powerful opening and for many hours I was dissolved in tears as I surrendered to what wanted to moved through me and be brought to light, dissolving old stuctures in its wake.

This morning I had the following insight about the Saturn Jupiter conjunction happening in Aquarius and realised that it was not too dissimilar to my personal revelations as both insights essentially showed the possibility of transformation through trauma.

Aquarius is ruled by Uranus and is known as the ‘great liberator’. It is an outer, transpersonal planet with a vibrational force akin to lightning, electricity, or kundalini- awakening. Being transpersonal, it is less concerned with the daily minutiae of our individual lives and more involved with the spiritual evolution of humanity as a collective. Because of this it can feel shocking and chaotic to our individual personhood. As the modern ruler of Aquarius and the 11th house, Uranus is linked with collective patterns of evolution… some say the age of Aquarius is the death of the individual. But how does the individual fare in this disruptive interpersonal and impersonal energy? As someone who has Uranus conjunct my moon Natally, Venus and north node in Aquarius, and Saturn in the 11th house, I am no stranger to bursts of Uranian energy, particularly on an emotional level-  hence the reason I get blasted every once in a while. The blasting always feels like a cleansing and a reset no matter how severe the disruption may have been. But here’s where Saturn comes in – I realised that with even more exposure to Uranian energy – now in the mental spheres and collective ripples of Aquarius – I saw the need to create stronger containers to allow this force to move through me. The more sensitive among us, and people with strong Uranian or outer planet signatures in their chart are at risk of being fried in these powerful transformative energies and need strong emotional and mental boundaries – they need a strong inner father figure, a strong Saturn.

One way we may become fragmented is by pixilation through over exposure to the virtual and AI worlds. Uranus rules the internet and technology, and who, especially during 2020 has not been increasingly sucked into and perhaps even merged with the machine?  This is after all the age of the machine. Saturn, like a good father, sometimes strict but always loving can impose conditions and restrictions designed to protect us from fragmentation, formlessness, and disintegration. Saturn says, “here are the parameters in which you can operate” and if Saturn is to be trusted and made friends with, one will eventually see that libertaion comes from discipline, form, structure, and being embodied in the world of matter- weaving body and spirit together. The danger is that Saturn may have become too rigid or we may have internalised an outmoded societal image of Saturn.

If we do not take responsibility for ourselves or learn to work with Saturn in our own lives we may too easily outsource it to someone who embodies the masculine principle or else the collective father which is currently a patriarchal model.

The collective father, the authorities of the dominant culture, may claim control on a mass scale by imposing systems and strategies that gain compliance through a mix of fear and uncertainty, as well as care.  The question on the table now however is what is the true cost of surrendering one’s personal will to the dictates of a father/god figure who seems on the one hand to offer refuge while at the same time insists on ever tighter restrictions and control? The new pandemic gods show little mercy for the voice of dissent and while I suspect the light bearer is waiting in the wings to offer humanity a Promethean- like liberation the question we must also ask is what is true liberation and what is only set up to appear as such?

This is the crossroads at which we stand at the dawning of the age of Aquarius: either we claim personal autonomy and responsibility for our choices and actions even while they challenge social sanctions and laws, or we renounce our right to choose from our higher self-will, personal rationale, and intuition… unless of course our personal will is entirely aligned with the values of authority. The decisions we make now will shape and influence the unfolding of the new age. Will it be a time when the positive aspects of Aquarius evolves through increasing social responsibility, collective power, and right use of information and technology, or will social freedom, imagination, and spiritual empowerment be monitored and engineered to create a compliant society ruled by technocratic governments and increasingly machine-like consciousness?

We are not puppets and pawns on this trajectory, and in spite of cultural dogma that presents a picture of obligatory compliance, we do have agency. The best of Uranian energy is expanded consciousness and spiritual evolution, the danger is that we get lost in its vastness. The antidote is developing a strong relationship with our personal Saturn/father and assuming responsibility for ourselves rather than sacrificing our autonomy.

On 14th December, on the solar total eclipse, Saturn was at the last degree of Capricorn before entering Aquarius. The sabian symbol for 30 degrees Capricorn is-

A Secret meeting of men responsible for executive decisions in world affairs.

It is also worth noting that Saturn first went into this degree of Tuesday 8th December which was the official launch of the Pfizer vaccine. The anaretic degree- the last degree- of a zodiacal sign conveys a sense of completion, a point of no return, and that certainly seems to be the case regarding the vaccination- but that is only at the level of society, we must not be duped into thinking that we have lost our rights as autonomous beings or the ability to choose and to take responsibility for our own decisions.

The threshold upon which we stand offers a rare and precious opportunity, and if we acknowledge that we have choice and consciously connect with a spiritual agency however that manifests for us, we get the chance to become creators of the new age instead of pawns.

The Great Conjunction may ultimately be involved with reinstating a spiritualised masculine principle in a world that has largely been despiritualised and emasculated.
