We are looking at the myth of Psyche in our workshops; weaving myth, astrology, and alchemy as symbolic maps to navigate mid-life transition.
The myth of Psyche and Cupid is from a 2nd century text written by Apuleius, known as The Metamorphosis, or The Golden Ass. In book VI, Psyche is set what seems like an impossible task by the goddess Venus who scatters wheat, millet, barley, poppy seeds, chickpeas, lentils and beans and commands Psyche to separate them into piles.
This was the perfect myth to work with in our fourth workshop where we are in the second operation of the Albedo stage Conjunction, where previously we had looked at Separatio.
As we cross the midlife threshold of menopause, we are asked to separate what is of us, and what is not of us. What have we been carrying for others, and what stories around our identity do we now need to call into review.
What comes with us, and what stays in the previous chapters of our lives. How do we want to move forward in our lives? Who do we want to be? These are among some of the questions we are exploring.
In yesterday’s full supermoon in Gemini, asteroid Psyche was conjunct the Moon at 16° Gemini. Looking at where Psyche sits in our chart, we explored the areas of our lives where developing our soul may lead us on a journey of self-discovery and the spiritual quest.
There are many layers to this myth that could be beneficial to work with; I am putting together a separate course on the myth of Psyche alone as it is so rich.
