This post deals with themes of collective and personal intergenerational and inherited trauma, through exploring asteroid Kaali, Uranus, and the centaurs Nessus, Dejanira, and Pholus.

The discovery chart of asteroid Kaali was 84 years ago- a Uranus cycle. At the time of Kaali’s discovery Uranus was at 26 ° Taurus 26. In 2024 to 2025, Uranus returned to that point on these dates:18 July 2024;18 October 2024; 3 May 2025.

Uranus and Kaali are both connected with kundalini energy; both are involved in processes of liberation and destruction. Both Kaali and Uranus can be shocking, disruptive, and distinctly uncomfortable.

When Uranus was at 26 ° Taurus in 1942, by February of that year, the second World War had claimed somewhere in the region of 15 to 20 million lives. That year alone there were 7.71 million deaths.

The systematic state sponsored persecution of European Jews, the Holocaust, saw the murder of 6 million Jews between 1933 and 1945. Most murders happened during the “Final Solution”, which took place between 1941 and 1945.

It was under these conditions that asteroid Kaali was discovered. Kali, the Hindu goddess after whom the asteroid was named is depicted as a terrifying blood thirsty deity on an unstoppable rampage to slay demons. In this manifestation she is the Dark Mother, destroying, fierce, and blinded by rage and fury. So intoxicated is Kali that even after the last demon and her most formidable nemesis, Raktabija is slain, she cannot stop killing.

The death orgy is finally ended when Lord Shiva lays beneath his raging wife forcing her into a state of awareness. This moment of realization acts as a “shock” that stops her destructive rampage, thus saving the universe from total dissolution.

This episode of Kali’s story is a teaching reminding us that raw energy without grounded awareness leads to chaos. The union of Kali and Shiva restores cosmic order.

Uranus was discovered on 13 March 1781, during a period of major global conflict, most notably the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). This war claimed the lives of approximately 32,000. This followed on from the French Revolution where the death toll is thought to be near 1 million.

The discovery charts of both Kaali and Uranus are epochs in time marked by chaos, carnage, and crisis.

Today when Uranus has just completed a full cycle since the discovery of asteroid Kaali, many lives have been lost in the Gaza war. As of 10 February 2026, at least 73,158 (possibly more) Palestinian, and over 2,000 Israeli killings have been reported.

The reason I am writing about asteroid Kaali is that I have been working with this placement in astrology charts. On the annular solar eclipse on 17 February at the Aquarius new moon, asteroid Kaali was conjunct Neptune/Saturn which was at almost exactitude. The conjunction was exact yesterday; Kaali is still conjunct this duo by 2 °.

Much has been written about and speculated upon the meaning of the Saturn Neptune conjunction, particularly with its powerful and auspicious placement at 0° Aries. Some people believe this alignment heralds the seed of a New Earth; another source calculated that the last time this conjunction happened at this degree was 3 March, 4361 BCE (I cannot personally verify this).

It is however undoubtedly a rare occurrence, the effects of which will become apparent as our human consciousness continues to unfold in what clearly appears to be a period of consciousness evolution.

Small though she may seem in the scheme of our solar system planetary bodies, asteroid Kaali packs a punch and I feel carries much more weight than we have realised. For me, asteroids generally offer a deeply nuanced significance to astrological charts, and the more I work with them the more I am aware of their power.

Which brings me to the main strand of this post: The chart of Andrew Mountbatton- Windsor.

In the chart of the ex- Duke, asteroid Kaali is at 23 ° Taurus 41, while the centaur Nessus is closely conjunct at 24 ° Taurus 20. This placement of Kaali and Nessus is just 2 to 3 ° short of Uranus’ position in the Kaali discovery chart.

Uranus made a conjunction to Andrew’s Kaali on 23 May 2024, then again on 30 December 2024, and finally on 3 March 2025.

Uranus made a conjunction with his Nessus 4 June 2024; 10 December 2024; 22 March 2025.

Though I have not had time to compare these dates with the timeline of events in Andrew’s life, it would be interesting to see what was occurring for him on these dates.

From what I have gleaned so far about asteroid Kaali, it ramps up and superchargers any planet that it comes into close contact with. This is particularly so if it makes a close conjunction with the personal planets, but also asteroids and centaurs.

As one of the centaur beings, Nessus speaks to patterns of abuse, inherited trauma, betrayal, violation, secrets, and manipulation. In client charts where Nessus features prominently, it is worthwhile looking at the chart from an ancestral perspective. If the charts of previous generations are available, I have found that the themes of Nessus often continue through the line.

Some astrologers believe that Nessus often denotes the perpetrator of abuse while Dejanira is the victim. If you are interested in the myth of Nessus and Dejanira to see the core dynamics at work, some information is available online. I have written some blogs on the topic over the years, however my understanding of these archetypes and how they manifest in a chart is a work in progress. Relatively little has been written about Dejanira even though she was discovered in 1875. Nessus was only discovered in 1993.

Personally, I feel that the designated roles of victim and perpetrator are much more complex and fluid than a straight off polarisation, however I have found that Nessus and Dejanira, particularly when viewed in intergenerational astrology, and synastry, do point to ingrained themes of abuse and victimisation. Often, this is not cold and calculated abuse but the insidious flowing of repeated trauma through the DNA and bloodlines. That is until someone is designated to bring the shadow material to light. As the astrologer and author Melanie Reinhart (who has written about Nessus) says, the motto for Nessus is “The buck stops here”.

It goes without saying that placements of Nessus and Dejnaira in individual charts are equally enlightening.

In the case of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Nessus is highlighted by its proximity to Kaali; both these points have recently been activated in his chart by transiting Uranus, and as previously stated, these points in Taurus are conjunct the degree of Uranus in the Kaali discovery chart.

Not only that; Andrew’s natal moon is opposite Kaali and Nessus at 25 ° Scorpio. Asteroid Dejanira is conjunct the moon by 5 ° at 1 ° Sagittarius. Though most astrologers would consider a 5 ° orb of an asteroid to be too wide, experience has taught me otherwise, particularly when it is a powerful asteroid like Dejanira, or is close to the luminaries or angles.

Asteroid Karma is conjunct Dejanira at 2 ° Sagittarius, suggesting that whatever victim/perpetrator themes of abuse and generational cycles are at play in Andrew’s life, he was meant to be the catalyst through which these issues are unfolding.

All of this to say that themes of generational and inherited abuse are writ large in Andrew’s chart. What that means exactly, I don’t know, however I feel it would be wise to hold that in mind as we reach a collective point of the “buck” coming to a stop.

If the motto of Nessus is “The buck stops here”, the motto of Pholus is “the lid comes off”. Andrew’s Pholus is conjunct his descendant by 20 arc minutes at 11 ° Aquarius. This implies that whatever lid is currently popping in the life of Andrew, it involves relationships with others. Transiting Pholus is about to make a conjunction with Andrew’s Saturn at 14 ° Capricorn.

In his 2025 biography of Andrew Mounbatton- Windsor, Andrew Lownie claims that according to a source close to Andrew, the former Prince had his first sexual experience at age eight and lost his virginity at age 11, when he was taken to a brothel by the father of a friend. While not to deter from the apparent heinous crimes and misuse of power, it seems clear that Andrew is not the lone bad seed of the story but rather is embedded within a systemic knot of sexual distortion.

Which brings me on to my final point. When I think of the themes that have been mentioned in this post: The archetypal qualities of Uranus and Kaali;  the carnage of war happening at the time of Kaali’s discovery chart; the recent Uranus return to that point; the unfolding scandal involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and many others; themes of victim/perpetrator, Nessus/Dejanira; sexuality; ancestral trauma and family secrets, I am left with a sense that collectively and individually we must dig deep to uncover the patterns of poison active in our personal and collective unconscious.

And this…

If Uranus and Kaali are both involved with the awakening of kundalini energy, how are we handling or not handling this potent serpent energy. What distortions are being played out by interrupted and repressed kundalini? How does trauma affect kundalini? How does the intergenerational legacy of war and the killing of millions impact our subtle energy systems. War, fear, deprivation, secrets, silence, suffering, all these things impact the human vibrational and energetic field causing it to contract and shut down.  In fear we are trapped in survival mode, operating from the root chakra; the serpent never rises to open the higher chakras.

What happens when kundalini is subverted? Could the closing of and shutting down of libido lead to perverted expressions of sexual energy. Energy cannot be destroyed; it can only be redirected.

Sexual abuse is the secret of our time that is coming to light. As “the lid comes off”, we may discover that these distortions do not happen in isolation, it is not just one rotten apple that sours the barrel. Our collective experiences including and especially untold horror and trauma have impacted us in ways that we are only now beginning to understand.

When Kali is brought to awareness by her consort Lord Shiva, cosmic balance is restored. This suggests that universal harmony and conscious awareness is born from the balanced union of masculine and feminine.

Disharmony between the sexes as well as the collective and individual trauma that each gender carries- war, misogyny, persecution, and oppression, has created a distortion in the human field of consciousness. The collective healing that we are currently undergoing is necessary; the wound must be cleansed, secrets must be told, trauma lines must be traced, and control through unlawful power and tyranny must be dismantled.

While much is unfolding about present and historic abuse of women, much less has been acknowledged regarding the inherited inter-generational trauma of men through war.
