Reflections on yesterday’s New Moon in Taurus, Sunday 27th April, 20.31 PM, UK time.
What is strong for me in this new moon chart is the grand cross between Mars, Pluto, Sun/Moon, and Black Moon Lilith. This third Mars/Pluto opposition is intensified even more by the entry of Black Moon Lilith into the conversation. Black moon Lilith represents the darkest (and lightest) aspects of consciousness and the material that has been lost in the shadows for at least a few millennia. Not only does she hold the shadow and pain of humanity, but she also holds the individual and collective shadow as it relates to the feminine principle.
From where I stand, it appears that we simply cannot progress as an organic human species without addressing and integrating aspects of the feminine that have been exiled, abused, and stolen from for purposes that are out of alignment with the essential nature of the feminine. And that without feminine energy being valued, respected, and rebalanced into the human experience, our future looks dim… quite literally as “Homo Scientificus”, in his race to master Nature, prepares to dim the light of the Sun on Earth.
Pluto in this configuration is wielding strong powers of transformation as it relates to our individual and collective soul, insisting that what has been hidden must now be brought to the surface, acknowledged and purified. At 3° Aquarius this catharsis takes place on a collective level and paves the way for necessary evolution.
Mars, our personal will and call to action is directing us to engage with these undeniably heavy energies through the filters of our individual, lived experiences, but not in a way that allows the ego to override the possibility of transformation. The calling here is to tune into our essence while quieting the ego mind-that at this point might well be freaking out-as we are asked to get real about who we are and what we have lived. Pluto is digging deep, very deep, into layers of consciousness, right to the bottom of well, bringing forth memories, experiences, and events not just from this lifetime but from previous lifetimes, as it relates to abuse of power, corruption, deceit, dishonour, and theft.
The Mars/Pluto opposition, the third of a run- and still within the frame of eclipse season -is bringing up content for purging that is not easy to face, If we dig our heels in and refuse to get real about the darker aspects of our lives, if Mars-especially a somewhat prideful Mars in Leo-refuses to drop the mask of strength, accomplishment, and being put together nicely, Pluto will step in and dissolve any screens and filters that refuse to be loosened in the name of saving face. Mars in Leo however is also inviting us to get creative with the material, and to stay, as far as possible, in our heart.
Tempered by a force more powerful than himself, Mars’ martial strategies of war and combat are not so effective in the processes of transformation that we are collectively undergoing. What is called for now are the sacred aspects of the warrior and standing strong in the truth and integrity of who we are even while the word around us may punish us for daring to tell it like it is.
Holding on to illusions of strength and success regarding the feminine is likely to be dismantled at this time, however this gives rise to a stronger more authentic image of the feminine.
The degree of this dismantling is dependent on various factors, such as placements in our own natal chart, and how rigid our ego structures are in keeping it all together. Presenting to the world as one who has walked through the valley of the shadow of death, lived to tell the tale, and is now supporting others on their journey without having truly made that journey is being called to question. While there certainly are those true guides and way showers, there is also a sense of false awakenings in our glossy, virtual new age world that can ultimately cause more harm than good. Especially in the world of healers, therapists, and coaches, there is pressure to appear to have our sh*t sorted; showing our underbelly to the world is too vulnerable (and besides we must make a living). Our under belly though is the shadow material that probably catalysed us on to a healing path in the first place.
Sun/ Moon in Taurus as part of this grand cross is inviting the possibility of building something stable; a container and crucible in the material world with which to hold and transform the energies of collapse. One of the primary reasons that women have been vulnerable in the patriarchal culture is the enforced dependency upon a system that is not always in alignment with her energy and can badly bend her out of shape. Compromise at the expense of truth is what is now being challenged. Women have often felt that they are unable to descend as deeply as they need to recover the exiled part of themselves because the structures in place simply do not support it, or else pathologise it.
This is where Black Moon Lilith comes into her own. Exiled for thousands of years, and being made to carry the collective shadow as Witch, bitch, mad woman, hag, whore, and outcast, Lilith is coming home. Within the unseen realms of the collective psyche, we are opening a space for her return. It begins with each of us telling the truth of what we have experienced and what we know especially in the light of betrayal, corruption, control, and abuse of power. Lilith will no longer stand back in silence and allow these patterns to continue. And at this time the dark feminine has a powerful ally in Pluto, who also demands that illusionary realities of fake or stolen power be dismantled.
At the core of this is shame. Women and the feminine ways have been rejected and punished for behaviours deemed wrong or bad -albeit in response to self-denying or self-limiting structures. It is a system that has further punished the feminine for not being able or willing to uphold manufactured illusions. It is by no means only men who punish women for this perceived betrayal, it is other women- which is arguably the deepest betrayal of all.
To make this journey of homecoming, there needs to be at least some foundational layer, or grounding of being to call home both in the inner and outer world. The issue is that many modern women have, for many varied and complex reasons, been unable to find the ground of being able to allow the alchemical process of transformation. As more women are remembering the pathways to their essential beingness, they are freeing themselves from the shackles of bondage that have repressed a true feminine expression on the planet for a longtime. And it starts with one woman at a time, telling her story and standing in her truth no matter how others react, perceive or judge her.
Rebalancing the feminine not only addresses what is out of whack on the material plane, or on the mental and emotional levels, it is also a gateway to the divine feminine and aspects of spiritual consciousness that have long been hidden from humanity. There is no ascent to the gods without the descent to the goddess, no matter how much hubris, control, money, or intelligence the technocrats and self appointed masters of Nature may wish it.
